Also known as G. Edery, Galla Edery is a Research Assistant in our team.
0000-0003-3193-4597 Gala-EderyI am doing an internship at the Okeanos Research Unit of the University of the Azores, with the Estagiar L internship program. I completed a BSc in Biology in 2018 at the Universitat de Girona (Spain), and worked at the Institut Mediterrani d'Estudis Avançats (CSIC, Spain) in the study of Mediterranean marine phanerogams. I also completed a MSc in Marine Biology at the Universidad de La Laguna (Spain) in 2021, carrying out a master's thesis in partnership with the Universitat de Barcelona, focused on studying the reproduction of octocorals in the process of restoration on the Mediterranean coast. This work gave me the opportunity to start this internship in the Deep Sea Ecology team.
During my time in the Azores, I have participated in experiments with living corals on anthropogenic impacts and climate change, and also in the study of coral reproduction with histology techniques. I have also been working on the organization of the Marine Biological Reference Collection (COLETA) database at the University of the Azores, where I have acquired a great deal of knowledge in identifying the species of corals and sponges in the region, linking the specimens cataloged in COLETA with the visual catalog of species from the deep sea of the Azores.
